Bible Reading

How to read the Bible:

The Bible is a library of books written by God through different authors over 1,500 years.

Some books present very different messages.

But all the Bible ultimately points to Jesus.

Therefore, begin with the Gospels that describe Jesus’ life and ministry.

The Gospel of Mark tells about what Jesus did and is easy to read.

Then, the Gospel of John tells about what Jesus said and who Jesus was.

Read all the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) to best understand Jesus’ life and ministry.

After that, read some of the Epistles (Romans, Ephesians, Philippians, 1 John). These books explain how to live by faith in Jesus.

Revelation, the last book, is about future events. Very difficult to understand. For everyone.

That’s the New Testament, the second section of the Bible.

The Old Testament is the first section.

Genesis should be read in the Old Testament. It explains how God created the world and how man fell into sin.

Joshua through Chronicles are the history of Israel.

Psalms and Proverbs are about wisdom.

So the Bible is a New Testament and an Old Testament of various books.

Some books are more understandable than others.

But the key to fully understanding the Bible is to pray and ask for God’s help.

God wrote the Bible. He will help you. He wants you to understand His Word.

“Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him” (Proverbs 30:5).
