Easter

Christ is Risen!

Easter Sunday celebrates the most significant event in world history.

Jesus, the Son of God, died and three days later rose from the dead.

Thus the Bible records. And thus history confirms.

Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to Peter, then to the apostles. Then he appeared to more than five hundred men. Finally he appeared to James, and then to all the apostles when he ascended into heaven as they watched (1 Corinthians 15:5-7), (Acts 1:6-11).

Why is this event so important?

1. It verifies the Bible is the word of God. The Bible plan required the death and resurrection of Jesus. This completed God’s provision of salvation (Ephesians 1:4-10).

2. It verifies Jesus is who he said he was. Only God could rise from the dead. And Jesus said he would rise after three days (Mark 9:30-31).

3. It verifies Jesus’ death was sufficient to pay for the sins of all who trust him for salvation. Punishment for sin was completed at the cross. Thus Jesus came back to live as the sinless Savior (Romans 4:22-25).

4. It verifies Jesus’ promise of resurrection to eternal life for all who trust him. “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live” (John 12:25). “Because I live, you also will live”

(John 11:19).

5. It verifies that Jesus lives now and will someday be crowned King of all creation. “so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:11).

Amen
