The Bible is the unerring chart for life, for it is the Word of God.
It is the map in which every shoal and all the quicksands of destruction are described.
The Bible leads to the haven of salvation. It is mapped and marked by God who knows all the way.
Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4).
The Apostle Paul said, “…faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17).
“For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith” (Romans 1:17).
“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him” (Hebrews 11:6).
Read the Bible with reverence. God is speaking.
Read with seriousness. It is matter of life and death. God will judge all by His Word.
Read the Bible with affection. God’s Word is a lamp to direct and also a fire to warm.
Read the Bible as valid history. It has proven reliable.
Read the Bible as God’s love letter to your heart. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Pray that Holy Spirit who wrote the Bible will also help your reading. King David thus prayed, “Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law” (Psalm 119:18).
Prize the Bible. King David said of God’s Bible commandments, “More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb” (Psalm 19:10).
King David also thanked God for His Word, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105).
The Bible is the chart and compass by which we can sail to Heaven. It is a sovereign comfort in all distresses.
Amen
