Royalty is a wonderful thing. It’s natural to admire the families of kings and queens.
But we all, in fact, have an opportunity for royalty. Royalty with the King of Kings; God himself.
Jesus, the Son of God, came from heaven to earth. He died for the sins of all who trust him.
And “…to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12). Children of God! Think about it! If you are God’s child by faith in Christ Jesus, royalty yours!
We are born into this world as a children of Adam. Adam sinned against God. And because we are his children we are born in sin. It soon becomes apparent, for we sin too. “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
But, “Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God” (1 John 5:1). Those who believe are adopted into God’s royal family. And, “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Jesus sometimes referred to God’s children as his “sheep.” He said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one” (John 10:27-30).
God’s children are secure. Forever.
Children of God have a loving and attentive Heavenly Father during their lifetime here on earth. Then they will spend eternity with him in heaven.
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are” (1 John 3:2).
We “are” if we have trusted Jesus for our salvation.
And if we have trusted Jesus and thus become “children of God,” we will love God and live for him.
Amen.
