Wisdom is the key to life now and life forever.
But what is wisdom?
Answer: “Wisdom is the understanding of things that do not change.” Charlie Kirk
And most of all it is God who does not change.
“…I the Lord do not change” (Malachi 3:6).
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).
Therefore the greatest wisdom is to know God and His Son Jesus Christ who never change.
But where can we find this wisdom?
Answer: “…the Lord [God] gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding” (Proverbs 2:6).
From God’s mouth come words. His words are recorded in the Bible. Therefore we can know God and thus obtain wisdom through reading and believing the Bible.
The Bible speaks particularly about wisdom:
1. It’s beginning: “The fear [reverence] of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight” (Proverbs 9:10).
2. It’s source: Again, “…the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding” (Proverbs 2:6).
3. It’s search: “…if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God” (Proverbs 2:4-5).
4. It’s affect: “Know that wisdom is such to your soul; if you find it, there will be a future, and your hope will not be cut off” (Proverbs 24:14).
5. It’s value: “How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver” (Proverbs 16:16).
6. It’s promises: “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock” (Matthew 7:24).
7. It’s benefit: “Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding” (Proverbs 3:13).
“From where, then, does wisdom come? And where is the place of understanding?
God understands the way to it, and he knows its place. For he looks to the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens.
And he said to man, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding’” (Job 28:20, 23-24, 28).
“Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them; for the ways of the Lord are right, and the upright walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them” (Hosea 14:9).
Finally, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him” (James 1:5).
Amen
